In-School Programs

The library is now located within the school where students have easier access to resources which may be used for pleasure reading or for homework.

Over the course of the school year the students will make regular visits to the library.  While there, the librarian will take the students through various activities that are applicable to their education .

Such activities will include:

¨      Native Bingo

This Bingo is not only a fun bingo, but an educational one as well.  While playing students learn about famous or historical aspects of the Native culture.

¨      Legends

Students will listen to and participate in reading various Native Legends as well as stories from our own community.

¨      Theme Based Stories and Activities

As the seasons change and various special dates arrive, such as Remembrance Day, the learning in the library will be held in collaboration with the learning in the classroom.

¨      Internet Research Skills

The Internet has become an important part of students lives today so it is important that the

Students have skills on how to do a proper search.  This will allow for effective Internet searches when the students have research projects.

¨      Story Writing

In conjunction with the teacher the students will partake in some story writing.  Once the story they have written is complete then it will become a part of the library’s book collection.  The story writing process will involve many aspects of the curriculum.

¨      Tutoring
